It was such a joy to watch these children grow up healthy, strong and confident. And very inspiring to watch the Sakya Team in action. They are so committed, generous and resourceful. Thank you for investing in this community- the caste-free generation!       We spent 10 days together, developing study skills, practicing meditation and just having fun. In our first few days together we created a 2011 Timeline, where students added their personal highlights of the past year. We studied the qualities of a Master Student, reviewed English grammar and played games to develop Communicative English fluency. Students did personal goal- setting, reflected on Stress Reduction and created Self-Care Action Plans. We also organized a Student Library with books donated by our supporters from The U.S., and they had structured Reading Time every afternoon after school. We practiced meditation together and had two Mindfulness Days, where we did a variety of mindfulness activities; chanting, seated meditation, walking meditation, yoga, mindful eating, active listening, reflection and free writing. The students were fully engaged in these activities and reflected later on how refreshed, clear and focus they felt as a result of our collective practice.    We also did some dramas, where the students really showed off their creativity. We did stories about The Buddha's life, as well as about the life of Dr. Ambedkar. And we did some yoga, some bhangra dancing, and some deep relaxation every day.   On our last day together we went into Chennai to the annual Book Fair and the students each bought their own books, thanks to a contribution from a local sponsor. The students loved book shopping! This is a vibrant community, thriving thanks to the commitment, ingenuity and resourcefulness of Jayasridhar, Nancy and their team. We are proud to be collaborating with them and very pleased to see these young people growing up into intelligent, creative and self-assured young people, They are the caste-free generation, taking Dr. Abedkar's vision forward.
