jai bhim international
caste-free generation
Jai Bhim International is an evolution of community. We have received an amazing outpouring of encouragement, assistance and support from our friends, which has helped us launch our non-profit.
Now we want to get the word out to more people, and we need help in the following areas:
Internet Presence: In 2009 we will enhance our current website, connect to other blogs, and expand our presence in online social networks. We will be recruiting Volunteer Interns to take the lead on our New Media Advisory Board to make these things happen.
Party Planning: We want all of our events to be small celebrations, a gathering of community, an expression of generosity and thanks. Our Party Planning Advisory Board helps us find venues for events, connect to other community groups, sends out invitations and welcomes guests to our events.
Buddhist Sanghas: Many American Buddhist groups know nothing about the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar or about the inspiring, empowered Dalit Buddhist community in India. We want to share this information and gather support, so that we may nurture the next generation of Buddhists in India. We are building a Sangha Advisory Board to plan presentations to other Buddhist sanghas, and plan events together in celebration of the Dharma.
American Youth: We are eager to connect American youth to the Dalit youth in our projects. By leading up our American Youth Advisory Board, youth in our community can guide our non-profit's vision and keep us current on what matters in youth's lives. They can also connect directly with Indian youth by contributing to our work.
Jai Bhim International provides Indian Buddhist youth with the spiritual, educational, and emotional tools to create personal and social change, for a culture freed of caste prejudice and discrimination.
We collaborate with organizations and individuals in India to implement projects that include youth conferences, English and computer literacy classes, leadership training, and cross-cultural mentoring.
