jai bhim international -caste-free generation- home about jai bhim international dr. ambedkar giving thanks 2011 global ambedkar month barefoot bhangra october 2011  Thanks to all our friends who supported our 3rd annual Barefoot Bhangra event on October 29th, graciously hosted by The San Francisco Buddhist Center. We raised $400 for this year's youth projects in India! It was a festive evening with Dr. DJ Gopal Sachdeva graciously returning to spin the music, and Bai Coomber making sparks as she led a full hour-long dance class, introducing us also to "Chutney" a fusion of Bhangra and West African dance forms hailing from Trinidad. Here are some pictures from the evening. This event was part of Global Ambedkar Month, celebrating Dr. Ambedkar's legacy and the revival of Buddhism in independent India. A big thank-you to the following businesses for their contributions to this year's event: colorbox salon, speesees, udupi palace, yoga sita, cafe que tal rhythm and motion at odc dance commons, and mission comics and art.
